The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) posted a bold job listing on its X account Thursday morning, calling for “revolutionaries willing to work 80+ hours per week” in a high-stakes effort to overhaul federal operations.

“We’re grateful to the thousands of Americans who want to help at DOGE. But we’re not looking for part-time idea generators,” the account announced.

The post laid out what candidates could expect under the leadership of billionaire Elon Musk and tech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy. “We need super high-IQ, small-government revolutionaries ready to work 80+ hours a week on the tough, unglamorous work of cost-cutting. If that’s you, DM us with your CV. Elon & Vivek will personally review the top 1% of applicants,” it added.

The DOGE X account was created Tuesday night following President-elect Donald Trump’s announcement of Musk and Ramaswamy as co-leaders of the newly proposed department. Their mission: to “dismantle government bureaucracy, slash regulations, cut wasteful spending, and restructure Federal Agencies,” as part of Trump’s “Save America” initiative.

Trump stated that Musk and Ramaswamy’s project will wrap up by July 4, 2026, aligning with the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.

Throughout Trump’s campaign, Musk had frequently expressed concerns about the overreach of federal agencies, describing the growing number of regulations and overlapping responsibilities as a threat to American business.

“There are so many [agencies] that people have never heard of, all with overlapping roles,” Musk told Tucker Carlson in a recent interview.

Notably, DOGE’s acronym is a playful nod to Musk’s support for the cryptocurrency Dogecoin.
